Wear your retainers every night, ideally 8-12 hours. Unless otherwise prescribed by your Orthodontist.
Never eat or drink anything (besides water) with your retainers on.
Do not flip your retainer in or out with your tongue. Use your fingers.
When you remove your retainer, always place it in the case that has been provided to you. Do not wrap in a napkin, this is how they get thrown in the trash.
Do not leave your retainer where your pets can reach them. Dogs and cats love to nibble on retainers.
Keep retainers away from heat sources and hot water, as they can distort.
Clean your retainers by brushing them with your toothbrush. Make sure to rinse all residue off before placing them in your case. You may also soak them in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and cold water for 10-15 minutes.
Do not use Efferdent or any other denture cleaner – it can cause clouding or degrading of the plastic over time
If you lose or break your retainer, notify the office immediately.
