Sticky

Sticky and chewy foods do damage by bending wires and pulling the cement loose.

Chewy

Sweets

Sweets may not break brackets or bend wires, but they DO cause WHITE SPOTS. If you eat sweets, brush immediately afterwards. If you cannot brush, ALWAYS rinse your mouth with clear water after eating sweet foods.

Gum

Gum is okay as long as it is SUGAR-FREE and contains the artificial sweetener XYLITOL. Chewing gum can help alleviate dental soreness. Additionally, xylitol has been shown to kill the bacteria that cause cavities.
